Pain treatment of cancer patients. No progress or slow progress?

Cancer might be accompanied by severe pain. Thus, pain relief is inseparable from oncology. The progress of oncology is fast, with new medicines appearing in cancer treatment every year. In contrast, there has been no new medicine for analgesia in recent decades. When comparing the options for pain treatment to the advancements in oncology, it seems that the progress of pain relief has stalled. This brief review is a position report regarding the current status of the pharmacological treatment of cancer pain.
