The decline in the quality of sleep at the societal level and the increase in the incidence of cancer are closely related. This is not only statistically verifiable but also supported by the molecular processes of the circadian rhythm. Maintaining the restorative function of sleep during cancer is crucial, which is why proper management of sleep disorders – using a multidisciplinary approach and considering international guidelines – is essential.

To enhance the effectiveness of drug and radiation therapies, it is worth considering their timing: in some cases, administering them at night or early morning, while in other situations, delaying them until the afternoon. Equally important is the preservation of good sleep quality for the staff working in oncology departments, outpatient clinics, and palliative care settings.
